Fruit of the Spirit – Joy

God has joy in who he is and what he does, and therefore a believer once born again will begin to rejoice in the Lord also. This is the work of the Holy Spirit – not to find joy and delight in the world, but in God himself and his great works of creation and redemption. A sad miserable Christian cannot be a holy Christian, for holiness means in great measure to be happy in the Lord. Are you happy? Are you satisfied in God’s love and greatness? Does his work and ways bring joy to your soul?

True Christians down through the history have been men and women who even in great trials did not allow their joy to be stolen. And remember Christ Jesus, the greatest example of triumphant joy. He could rejoice in his Father even when men rejected him, and even when headed for Calvary. He is our great example of ‘sorrowful, yet always rejoicing.’

Galatians 5:22-23 – But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.
