The Gospel in the Old Testament 11 – David – an eternal throne

The good news was announced long ago in the Old Testament when God promised to put one of David’s descendants on the throne forever. He would be the true king of kings, and all nations would submit to him. This prophecy and covenant promise is fulfilled in Jesus Christ. Jesus at his birth was called the “Christ” and “the king” by men and angels. He himself said he was a king and for this purpose had come into this world, but he also said his Kingdom was not of this world. His kingdom is not one of shedding blood and using force, money, and power, but one of truth, love, and reconciliation with God. To be saved you must surrender and submit to God’s appointed king. The main bible verse is 2 Samuel 7:12-13.
